THE PUMPKIN PATCH

The Pumpkin Patch opened in 1978 as a small children’s clothing shop at The Livery in Boone, Iowa.  Our adjacent companion shop, A Different Drummer, offered toys and gifts.  In the Fall of 1985, we combined these under The Pumpkin Patch name and relocated to the old Eschbach Building on Main Street in Ames, Iowa.  With more space, a full collection of children’s books were added.  As a family-owned business, we have been able to steer our own course and have always “marched to a different drummer."
